- Cambridge The Movie: A 4K pedestrian exploration of Cambridge, UK. Filmed between 2020 & 2023 Cambridge The Movie: A 4K pedestrian exploration of Cambridge, UK. Filmed between 2020 & 2023 – https://youtu.be/846NyWD9a5k . Cambridge is a university city, non-metropolitan district and the county town of Cambridgeshire, England. It is located on the River Cam approximately 55 miles (89 km) north of London. The city is most famous as the home of the University of Cambridge, which was founded in 1209 and consistently ranks among the best universities in the world. The buildings of the university include King’s College Chapel, Cavendish Laboratory, and the Cambridge University Library, one of the largest legal deposit libraries in the world. The city’s skyline is dominated by several college buildings, along with the spire of the Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church, and the chimney of Addenbrooke’s Hospital. To read more about the city of Cambridge, click here: https://ift.tt/Cszy12m . This film features a detailed and labelled pedestrian exploration of the city, filmed in 4K. The film was made during multiple visits to Cambridge over a 4 year period from January 2020 to December 2023. The film takes the perspective of a flâneur who is strolling around the city on a zig-zagging circuitous route, which takes in the main sites associated with Cambridge alongside many lesser known ones. The film is intended to highlight the urban infrastructure of Cambridge, alongside the University buildings, public transport, roads, natural areas, historic sites, tourist attractions, River Cam, residential areas, religious buildings, museums, pubs, bars, restaurants, art galleries, graffiti and the general culture of the city of Cambridge. Filming is done in a way that is subtle, there is no voice narration, the idea of the film is for the viewer to experience Cambridge through my eyes seeing what I saw when I visited. I look for the ordinary and mundane alongside the unusual and remarkable. The viewer is taken on a continuous journey geographically, but not all of this is filmed at the same time. You will see Cambridge during Covid restrictions, you will see Cambridge during a drought when the grass was completely yellow, you will see Cambridge during a hard winter covered in snow and you will see Cambridge as it is everyday, with residents, students, visitors and tourists all adding to the societal patchwork that contributes to the vibrancy of the city. This film is designed to be informative art, it is a documentary, but it is not a marketing or tourism film, this is not a holiday film, it is Cambridge, just Cambridge and nothing else. I hope that you enjoy the film and would be very happy to read your feedback in the film’s comments. - Bratislava The Movie – Slovakia (filmed in December 2023 and January 2024) Bratislava The Movie – Slovakia (filmed in December 2023 and January 2024): https://youtu.be/jyLDtXfqJMc . Bratislava, historically known as Preßburg (Pressburg), is the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Officially, the population of the city is about 475,000; however, it is estimated to be more than 660,000—approximately 140% of the official figures. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia at the foot of the Little Carpathians, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital to border two sovereign states. To read more about Bratislava, click here: https://ift.tt/gUqvGM6 . This film features views from a pedestrian exploration of Bratislava city centre. The film begins with the arrival at Bratislava by train from Vienna, before I then begin to walk the city. The film is made over several days in December 2023 and January 2024, but is geographically fluid in the where one section of film ends, another begins from the same spot, thuse giving the impression of a seamless walk around the city. The film highlights Bratislava’s history, culture, infrastructure, architecture, art, parks, cemeteries, fountains, statues, churches, cathedrals, streets, bridges, castle, rivers, trams, museums, shopping areas, restaurants, bars, buses, old town, railway station and government institutions. The film is for the most part not narrated, however it is labelled with sub-titles as to the locations being explored. - Hotel Review: Ibis Bratislava Centrum, Slovakia – January 2024 Hotel Review: Ibis Bratislava Centrum, Slovakia – January 2024: https://youtu.be/RkRKM-XSxsE . I stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Bratislava for new year 2024, two of us stayed for 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis which cost 353 Euro. The hotel is located a 5-7 minute walk from Bratislava Old Town and a 10 minute walk from Bratislava Castle. It is a standard Ibis hotel, so the bedrooms are basic but comfortable and an identikit to any other Ibis Hotel. The bed was a large double bed and it was comfortable, the room had a large open wardrobe, desk area, flat screen TV, chaise lounge and chair. The bathroom was the usual pre-fabricated white and beige cubicle with a shower cubicle rather than a shower over a bath. This film features views of the hotel exterior, reception, lobby, bar, lift / elevator, 5th floor corridor, a detailed review of room 529, the restaurant and breakfast buffet. This is a decent hotel and I would stay here again in future. If you like my films and you’d like to support my film-making then you can tip me here on Ko-Fi: https://ift.tt/Lr2lfcY . - Review: Falkensteiner Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia – January 2024 Review: Falkensteiner Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia – January 2024: https://youtu.be/iYZwo8R6DMo . I stayed at the Falkensteiner Hotel in Bratislava in January 2024, two of us stayed in a deluxe-room with roftop lounge access for 2 nights, which cost £235 on a room-only basis. We opted for a room-only basis as with the lounge access there are drinks and snacks available. The last time we stopped at this hotel the snacks in the lounge were good enough not to need breakfast, however this was not the case on this visit and the lounge snacks were very poor, with only pretzels, dried fruit and M&Ms. A lesson learned, if we stayed here again we probably would get breakfast included, as it was, we went to a local café, which was just fine. The hotel is located around a 5-7 minute walk from Bratslava Old Town and a 15 minute walk from Bratislava Castle, it’s a 6 Euro Uber ride from the main railway station also. The Falkensteiner brand is a pretty cool one, with good quality fixture and facilities. The reception and bar downstairs are very stylish and the bedroom had a spacious and cool vibe with excellent panoramic views over Bratislava old town towards the UFO Bridge. The bedroom was large with plenty of space and a very comfortable bed, there is an additional pillow menu also so you can upgrade your pillows at no extra cost. The room had a large wardrobe and plenty of storage, but bizarrely only three coat hangers. The toilet was separate from the shower and sink, and overall this was a high quality accommodation experience. I like this hotel, it is my second time here, and I would stay here again in future. The film features views of the reception, lobby, bar, lounge, a meeting room, lift / elevator, 6th floor corridors, spa, gym, rooftop lounge, views from the rooftop lounge balcony and a detailed bedroom review of room 610. - Bratislava Old Town Hall / Stará Radnica, Including Museum & Clock Tower, Slovakia – 7 January, 2024 Bratislava Old Town Hall / Stará Radnica, Including Museum & Clock Tower, Slovakia – 7 January, 2024: https://youtu.be/hObbmvBmfkk . Bratislava Old Town Hall is a complex of buildings from the 14th century in the Old Town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is the oldest city hall in the country and it is one of the oldest stone buildings still standing in Bratislava, with the tower being built approximately in 1370. The town hall was created in the 15th century by connecting three townhouses, and then went through several reconstructions in the course of the centuries. It houses the oldest museum in Bratislava, the Bratislava City Museum, founded in 1868, featuring an exhibit of the city history. To read more about Bratislava Old Town Hall, click here: https://ift.tt/DPoQBhU . This film features external views of Bratislava Old Town Hall as well as views within the Old Town Hall Museum and then a journey to the top of the clock tower and from there views over Bratislava Old Town and other parts of the surrounding urban landscape.
